In class this week we have been reading Rose Blanche, a book by Roberto Innocenti and Ian McEwan.
It is set in Germany during the Second World War and tells the story of Rose, a young German girl, who witnesses a change in Germany. This change goes from celebration and expectation at the beginning of the war, to heartache and sadness near the end of the war.
Today in English we focussed on a woman that turned her back during the capture of a young boy by soldiers, in the streets of Germany.
We looked at questions we would like to ask her which included:
"Have you ever seen anything like this before?"
"Were you frightened?"
"Didn't you want to help the boy?"
We also set up a decision alley for Ben to walk down, to see if she made the right decision.
